Organizers Lloyd & Swan MacIlquham announce the upcoming date for their 6th annual Nanaimo Scottish/Chinese tradition, “Robbie Burns & Chinese New Year Celebration”. The event will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 4 to 7 pm, in the Bowen Park Auditorium in Nanaimo.

Net proceeds go to the Nanaimo Art Gallery.

The event will jointly celebrate the Scottish poet Robert Burns’ 254th birthday and the Chinese Year 4710, also known as “Year of the Snake”.

Guests will be entertained with Scottish Highland dancing by Brigadoon Dance Academy, with Piper Bill Poppy, a pipe and drum band, Chinese Gu Zheng by Selena Yu, as well as Chinese folk dancing by Shu Zeng & The Flowers of Nanaimo and the Chinese lion dance and lion sword dance by Shifu Jackie Li.

Tickets are only available in advance and cost $20 per person, or $10 for children 6-11.
